Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the Baleno RS on March 3; even so, the carmaker has already started accepting bookings to your turbocharged petrol hatch for the Nexa website. Signup and also pay an amount of Rs 11,000 and you could be one of the early birds to drive the hot hatch.

But more importantly, the important points have surfaced so we cant wait to get our own hands on the RS as the prospects glimpse yummy. The Baleno Players will be powered by Marutis in-house Boosterjet serp that uses a variable geometry turbo to squeeze highest power from a little 3-cylinder, 998cc lump. At 250.5bhp and 150Nm, the RS seems to be promising, at the very least on paper. ?At 950kg, its heavier than perhaps the Baleno CVT variant by 15kg; but lighter than it has the ultimate rivals, the Polo GT TSI and Abarth Punto by simply over 150kg. Comparing this power/weight ratio, Polo GT TSI will make 93bhp/tonne while the Baleno RS makes a hefty 106bhp/tonne, thanks to the lightweight structure. The fact is that, Fiat India has not divulged any kerb weight of the Abarth Punto, but as per our appraisal, it should make over 124bhp/tonne. Drag race on the credit cards then?

Cosmetically, there are understated changes on the outside to make the RS variant stand above the regular Baleno. The front bumper gets larger atmosphere vents while the grill too gets rid of this chrome elements as well as gets a black topic. Even the rear bumper follows the same layout language. Another significant difference is the 16-inch black colored alloys that really stand out from the rest of the package. Maruti have not revealed much concerning the mechanicals as of yet, but the Baleno RS includes some sort of all-disc setup which should enhance the braking significantly.

Maruti Suzuki can be Indias largest carmaker and has recently been focusing on the masses due to the fact its inception. However with the Baleno RS, your carmaker has taken an all-new motivation to cater to the growing enthusiast foundation in the country. Although the price tags have not been revealed still, we cant wait to look at how it changes your dynamics of the overall performance car market.
